Clinical hypnotherapist · Trauma and PTSD trained · Workshop facilitator

Understand what’s beneath it. Change what comes next.

I help adults and teenagers understand what is driving anxiety, trauma responses, low confidence and behaviours that have become difficult to manage, then create change that reaches beyond willpower alone. I also deliver psychologically informed talks and workshops for organisations, teams and communities.

01 · About

Professional depth, human warmth.

I’m a clinical hypnotherapist and trauma and PTSD-trained practitioner, offering an integrated, whole-person approach to change.

My professional background includes a first-class BSc Honours degree in Occupational Therapy and 16 years working across NHS and local authority services. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how health, identity, roles, routines, relationships and environment shape the way people feel and function.

I have since trained extensively in clinical and super-conscious hypnotherapy, Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), crisis and trauma work, somatic approaches and transformational coaching.

Across all of my work, the thread is the same: helping people understand what sits beneath the visible difficulty, then combining practical tools with deeper change work.

02 · Approach

Working with the whole person.

01

The conscious mind

Clear understanding, practical tools and new perspectives help people make sense of what they are experiencing and see where choice is possible.

02

The subconscious

Hypnotherapy and transformational techniques explore the deeper beliefs, associations and learned responses that insight alone may not shift.

03

The body

Nervous-system awareness, grounding and embodied approaches help change feel safer, more manageable and more sustainable.

03 · Individual support

The visible problem is rarely the whole story.

People often know what they want to change, yet find that willpower and insight have not been enough.

My approach does not reduce somebody to a diagnosis or label. Together, we explore what a feeling, habit or behaviour may have been doing for you, what keeps it in place and what needs to change so you can feel calmer, more in control and better able to make choices that fit the life you want.

Anxiety, overthinking and emotional overwhelm

Confidence, self-esteem and self-belief

Trauma, PTSD and difficult past experiences

School, work, family and life transitions

Gambling, alcohol or drug use, food or eating, shopping and other difficult-to-control behaviours

Urges, intrusive thoughts and ways of coping that no longer help

Support when somebody else’s behaviour is affecting you

Boundaries, trust and difficult relationships

Identity, purpose and relationships

Stress and nervous-system regulation

04 · Trauma and PTSD support

When your mind knows the danger has passed, but your body has not caught up.

You may be functioning on the outside while still feeling on alert, avoiding reminders, struggling with sleep or reacting before you have time to think.

My trauma and PTSD work combines a structured hypnotherapy protocol with practical emotional-regulation, somatic and embodiment techniques. The aim is not to force you through a retelling of everything that happened. It is to help you feel steadier, safer within yourself and less governed by automatic responses connected with past experiences.

Specialist trauma and PTSD training

I have completed The Beat Retreat’s specialist clinical hypnotherapy training for trauma, PTSD and CPTSD, covering a structured six-stage approach to subconscious patterns, protective responses, difficult past experiences, self-blame and emotional reinforcement.

Step 1

Intake and preparation

We begin with a thorough intake, including what you are experiencing, the support already around you and what you want to change. Before the protocol, I introduce practical self-soothing and emotional-regulation techniques.

Step 2

A six-session foundation

Across the structured protocol, I also teach somatic and embodiment practices to help you support your nervous system. The hypnosis uses a long, gradual induction and can be largely non-content, so you are not expected to speak throughout or repeatedly retell every detail.

Step 3

Review and personalise

After one full pass through the protocol, we review what has shifted and what may still need attention. Depending on your response, we may revisit parts of the protocol or draw on other elements of my therapeutic toolkit.

This is a structured foundation, not a one-size-fits-all process. The work is adapted carefully around you, your responses and your pace.

Hypnotherapy is complementary support and does not replace assessment or treatment from your GP, psychiatrist or another appropriately qualified mental-health professional. If another form of support would be safer or more appropriate, I will discuss that with you.

05 · Specialist support

The person is always more than the pattern.

I support people when gambling or another behaviour has become difficult to manage, as well as the partners, parents, relatives and friends living with the impact.

These patterns may involve gambling, alcohol or drug use, food or eating, shopping, or another behaviour that has become difficult to control. I do not define anyone by the behaviour. Together, we explore what may be driving it, what purpose it has been serving and how it is affecting wellbeing, relationships, finances, work and your sense of self.

I also understand that the behaviour rarely affects only one person. Support for family and friends focuses on their own wellbeing, emotional safety, boundaries, self-trust and choices, whether or not the person struggling is ready to change.

I am co-founder and director of Gambling Recovery Therapy Ltd and Gambling Recovery For All CIC, where I develop and deliver individual therapeutic support, group programmes, workshops and educational work. My approach is informed by professional expertise and lived experience.

06 · Talks and workshops

Sessions designed around the people in the room.

I deliver engaging, psychologically informed talks and workshops for organisations, professional groups and communities.

Each session combines relevant insight with practical tools. Participation is invitational and psychologically safe, with no expectation that people disclose personal experiences in front of colleagues.

For people working in highly structured, high-pressure or service-led roles, sessions can explore changes to identity, belonging and purpose, as well as the nervous system’s familiarity with pressure and pace.

Career transitions and retirement

Identity, structure, belonging and purpose when a professional role changes.

Stress and nervous-system regulation

Understanding automatic responses and building practical ways to restore calm.

Resilience and self-trust

Moving beyond simply coping towards a stronger relationship with yourself.

Identity, confidence and purpose

Reconnecting with who you are when familiar roles begin to change.

Healthier ways of coping

Understanding what sits beneath habits and behaviours without labels or judgement.

Trauma-informed wellbeing

Creating safer, more compassionate ways to understand ourselves and others.

What clients say about working with me.

Claire understood the brief perfectly and delivered a workshop that went above and beyond my expectations. Staff who had felt nervous about audience participation found it to be an extremely safe environment. Claire was engaging, kind, eloquent and so knowledgeable. We all left with tools and resources to use personally and professionally.

From the beginning, our son felt relaxed and comfortable with Claire. She gave him breathing techniques and other tools he could use for himself, and gradually we saw his confidence returning. He is now back in school full-time, enjoying school life and his activities again. Most importantly, we feel like we’ve got our son back. He’s happy again.

From our initial call I felt at ease and finally spoke to somebody who got it and was non-judgemental. Through Claire’s patience and guidance I became stronger and more confident within myself. I am now the best person I’ve ever been, the best husband, the best at work and proud to say the best Dad I can be.

Claire has such a warmth to her. I feel able to be honest, and there is no judgement or expectation present. I feel able to let my guard down with Claire and, thanks to her, feel comfortable trusting others, but more importantly myself.
